Beautiful Barbury this weekend with entries in the Novice, 2*, 3* and an invitation to the Event Rider Masters CIC3*.

Friday’s Novice competition was a refresher for Sarah Warden’s Man About Town after a niggling injury.  27.8 dressage put him in the top 10 and an unfortunate pole and a steady clear XC with a few time faults saw him finish in 11th place.

CIC2* on Saturday for Christine Lees’ Ferro Point.  Her 31.9 dressage left her quite a long way down the order but she was on cracking form over the jumps and a double clear and one of only three competitors inside the time XC brought her up to a podium finish in 3rd place.

Two entries in the CIC3* with dressage on Thursday seeing both in the middle / lower half of the hundred starters.  Another fabulous double clear from Gillian Jonas’ Chap however saw him rise to 25th after SJ and 10th after XC with just 8.4 time faults.   Gillian’s other horse, Shannondale Quest had poles down SJ so ran steadily XC to finish in 25th.

And David’s final entry was the Event Rider Masters CIC3* with Eisfee (these are her ears) owned by Jane and Ian James.  The pair posted their best dressage score at this level (31.5) but withdrew after SJ.

The hot conditions and hard ground proved difficult for many combinations but competition was fierce with some nail-biting finishes.  The Barbury team did a fantastic job on the ground, and the new layout proved popular.  Thank you for another great weekend in Wiltshire!
