Eight horses travelled to Bicton Arena for CIC2* (Ferro Point, Dunge’s Don Perignon and Carneyhaugh Rua), Novice (Man About Town, Reybridge Riverdanz and Royal Conquest) and BE100 (Granito DHI and Royal Crusade) and between them brought home a collection of beautiful ribbons – pink, yellow, orange….
Very well done to Reybridge Riverdanz (Jimmy) finishing 9th in his first Novice on his dressage score and only a handful of XC time faults. Man About Town (Teddy) also double clear and no time faults finished 10th, while Royal Conquest (Edgar) had two down SJ but was quick XC to finish 15th.
More double clears from Granito DHI (Pete) and Royal Crusade (Buster) to finish in third – great result for Pete at only his second event – and 12th.
And finally a very misty Sunday morning found our three 2* star horses lying in mid-order after their dressage. All three jumped beautifully round the SJ track but a lightly touched pole for Carneyhaugh Rua (Roly) sent him down the list. All three ran very well across country – Dunge’s Don Perignon bang on the time, Roly and Ferro with minimal time faults, and David and owners were all delighted. You can see snippets of the XC here with the three horses at these approximate markers: Ferro – 8.06; Don – 17.25 (and keep watching); Roly – 25.43.
Meanwhile our second rider Max and his own Hillside Shining Star (Molly) produced a lovely dressage test (24.3) and a double clear to finish 15th in his BE100 section.
Huge thanks to the Bicton Arena team for their organisation, and getting the ground in such perfect condition. Big thanks also to Jade Roberts for producing all the horses looking fabulous, in between mucking out, washing off, hand-grazing and all the other jobs on a travelling groom’s list.
